Variant · 1 map

Overview

X-Megalodon is a rare aquatic carnivore variant of the Megalodon, found only in ocean biomes. It features a compact build ideal for underwater navigation and combat. This creature excels as a mobile aquatic assault mount, capable of rapid tames and efficient structure damage. It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Tusoteuthis for fast deployment to distant oceanic zones.

Spawn Locations

2 maps

X-Megalodon spawns exclusively in ocean biomes. It is considered rare and appears on only one ARK map. Players should focus on deep offshore zones for sightings, as spawn density is lowest near coastlines.

Mod Maps

Taming an X-Megalodon requires knockout via tranquilizing weapons. The most effective food is Superior Kibble, which yields the highest affinity gain. Raw Mutton also works if superior kibble is unavailable. Use Tranq Arrows from a Crossbow or Longneck Rifle with Tranquilizer Darts for efficient sedation. It can be immobilized with a Chain Bola or Bear Trap. The taming process takes about 42 minutes with 11 kibble. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Drops & Harvest Resources

Killing an X-Megalodon yields Megalodon Tooth, Raw Fish Meat, and Raw Prime Fish Meat. The Dino (Fish Harvest) tool provides the highest yield of Raw Fish Meat, while the Sickle maximizes Raw Prime Fish Meat collection.

Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.

Damage Resistances

The X-Megalodon takes +400% damage from spike walls, making it highly vulnerable to such defenses. It also suffers +120% damage from Instant HurtDinos and +55% from Melee DmgMetal RaidDino attacks. Conversely, it is highly resistant to Mining Drill Harvest damage, taking -100% damage. This makes it ineffective against mining-based tools. Focus on increasing Health and Melee Damage for combat viability.
