Overview

The Vulture is a small carnivore primarily used as a shoulder pet. It can be carried by larger creatures such as Argentavis or Karkinos, making it useful for mobile companionship and utility. It is commonly tamed for its compact size and ability to ride on larger mounts without impeding movement.

This creature does not gather resources while ridden and offers no weight reduction. Its primary role is as a passive companion that benefits from being transported by flyers and large ground dwellers.

Spawn Locations

19 maps

Vultures spawn commonly in caves, dark zones, deserts, and mountain biomes. They appear across 19 ARK maps, making them widely accessible. The green zones on the spawn map indicate highest spawn density, aiding in efficient scouting.

Official
Mod Maps

The Vulture is tamed passively, requiring no knockout or immobilization. Feed it Spoiled Meat directly to gain affinity. Raw Meat also works but is significantly slower.

Taming takes about 6 minutes using approximately 12 units of Spoiled Meat at level 150 on Official settings. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Drops & Harvest Resources

Killing a Vulture yields Hide and Spoiled Meat. The Hatchet provides the most Hide, while the Pick yields the highest quantity of Spoiled Meat.

Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.

Gathering Abilities

The Vulture does not function as a riding gatherer. Its Bite attack does not harvest resources from structures or flora. It offers no special riding harvest mechanics or resource multipliers.

Damage Resistances

The Vulture has a +120% weakness to damage from Instant HurtDinos, making it highly vulnerable to instant-damage sources like spike traps. It resists Mining Drill Harvest completely, taking no damage from resource nodes. Explosion damage is highly effective, dealing +50% more. Use piercing projectiles with caution, as they deal +40% damage. Focus on increasing Health and Melee Damage to improve survivability.

Vulture Tips & Tricks

The Vulture can be safely carried by flyers such as Argentavis or Quetzal, allowing safe traversal through dangerous areas.

It has a high vulnerability to instant-damage sources like spike walls, so avoid placing it near such defenses.

Due to its small size, it can be easily knocked off cliffs or into hazards; keep it secured on reliable mounts.

Its passive taming method allows feeding without fear of retaliation, making it ideal for beginners.

This page covers the Vulture's stats, taming, breeding, harvest specs, and combat data. For further assistance, refer to the dedicated taming calculator, breeding calculator, and spawn map.
