Instead of laying eggs, the Unicorn carries its young through a gestation period. Gestation takes approximately 8 hours at default rates.

The baby Unicorn takes approximately 1 day and 22 hours to fully mature at default rates - slowly. During the baby phase (0–10%), hand-feed it directly. From 10% onward (juvenile), it can eat from a Feeding Trough.

Mutations can add +2 levels to any stat and change colors. Stacking mutations across generations is the key to min-maxed breeding lines. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.

Raising a baby Unicorn involves three maturation phases: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~278 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~19h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~23h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.

Imprinting during maturation provides permanent stat bonuses. At 100% imprint, the Unicorn gains 30% bonus damage and resistance when ridden by the imprinter. You'll be asked to cuddle, walk, or feed specific kibble at regular intervals during maturation.

During the Baby phase (0-10%), you must hand-feed or use a Maewing to nurse. From Juvenile (10%+), dinos can eat from a Feeding Trough on their own. Use Preserving Salt in troughs to double spoil times.

ARK: Survival Ascended features the Unicorn as a tamable, herbivore creature that survivors will encounter in the wild. It falls within the Variant classification.

Its base Melee Damage sits at 100%, giving it respectable melee power. At 240 base HP, the Unicorn is relatively fragile. Its base Stamina of 560 gives it respectable staying power. Weight capacity starts at 350, giving it generous inventory space.

The Unicorn is passively tamed - approach it carefully and feed it by hand without knocking it out. Its preferred food is Rockarrot.

Once tamed, the Unicorn earns its keep through resource gathering, making tedious farming runs much faster. It gives live birth after a gestation period, making breeding straightforward. Killing a wild Unicorn yields 1 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.44 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
