Tropeognathus Taming Calculator

Pin a Tropeognathus with a Chain Bola, which is the only thing that will make it eat, then feed it and leave it be until the hold runs out. An ordinary Bola will hold it but not open the tame. Landing the bola turns it hostile, and hitting it while it is pinned interrupts the whole thing, so bola it into a trap rather than in the open.

How this tame works

No knockout

Bring 7 Exceptional Kibble. About 73 minutes at level 150.

Feed window2xLonger than a normal bola hold

  • Tropeognathus only eats while a Chain Bola has it pinned, and the bola lasts 2 times as long on a wild one.
  • Hitting it while the bola holds does not interrupt anything. Bola damage is flattened to a fixed amount and re-arms the hold, so the window is longer than the bola alone suggests.

Starve & Torpor Timers

Use the feeding timer to know when the Tropeognathus will accept its next meal. No more guessing between feeds.

The Tropeognathus, a tamable, flying, carnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended, is a common sight across multiple maps. It belongs to the Flyer category.

Dealing 100% base Melee Damage, the Tropeognathus brings respectable melee power to the table. The Tropeognathus has 360 base Health - decently sturdy. Its base Stamina of 250 gives it moderate endurance. Weight capacity starts at 340, giving it generous inventory space.

Once tamed, the Tropeognathus is a versatile flyer useful for scouting, traversal, and light transport. It reproduces by laying eggs, which must be incubated between 29°C and 32°C. A wild Tropeognathus is worth 3 base experience when killed. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.67 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
