Overview
The Stegosaurus is a large herbivore that serves as a weight reducer and soaker in combat. It reduces inventory weight for several resources, most notably Bingleberry by -75%. This makes it ideal for resource transport runs where weight efficiency is critical. It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Tusoteuthis for fast deployment across long distances.
Spawn Locations
21 mapsStegosaurus spawns commonly across 20 ARK maps. It inhabits diverse biomes including forests, grasslands, jungles, mountains, oases, snow regions, wastelands, and cities. Look for them in open terrain near resource nodes.

Tame the Stegosaurus using the knockout method. Use a Chain Bola, Bear Trap, or Plant Species Y to immobilize it. Then sedate it with Tranq Arrows from a Bow, Crossbow, or Compound Bow, or use a Longneck Rifle with Tranquilizer Darts. Feed it Regular Kibble for the fastest taming. About 32 kibble are needed. Killing a Stegosaurus yields Hide, Raw Meat, Raw Prime Meat, and Keratin. The Hatchet yields the most Hide and Keratin, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat and Raw Prime Meat.

Gathering Abilities
While mounted, the Stegosaurus gathers a variety of resources using any of its attacks. It harvests Berries, Mejoberry, Narcoberry, Stimberry, Rare Flower, Rare Mushroom, Wood, Cactus Sap, and Fiber at 10× efficiency. Seeds and mushrooms also benefit from high yields. It excels at gathering plant-based resources quickly.
Weight Reduction
Reduces inventory weight for Bingleberry by -75%. Pair it with a Quetzal or Tusoteuthis to maintain this reduction during aerial transport.
Damage Resistances
The Stegosaurus has a strong resistance to fire, taking -60% damage from fire-based attacks. It is highly vulnerable to spike walls, which deal +200% damage. Explosions and certain melee attacks also exploit significant weaknesses. Level Health and Melee Damage to maximize survivability and output.
