Pteranodon Egg & Breeding Calculator

After a successful mate, the Pteranodon lays a fertilized egg. Incubation temperature must stay between 29°C and 32°C - use Air Conditioners, Standing Torches, or Dimetrodons to maintain the range. At the correct temperature, the egg hatches in approximately 1 hour and 39 minutes.

Full maturation from baby to adult takes ~1 day and 13 hours (1x rate), progressing over a lengthy period. Hand-feeding is required until 10% maturation. After that, a Feeding Trough handles the rest.

Each baby inherits stats from both parents with a chance of mutation - +2 wild levels to a random stat plus a color change. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.

The hatched dinosaur, now a baby, needs constant attention and food placed directly in its inventory to survive, or a nearby Maewing to take care of its needs.
Juvenile

14:48:53
The dinosaur reaches the juvenile stage, where it can now eat from a feeding trough, reducing the need for direct feeding.
Adolescent

18:31:06
The dinosaur reaches the adolescent stage, becoming more independent and able to follow you while continuing to grow toward full maturity.

Raising a baby Pteranodon involves three maturation phases: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~222 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~15h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~19h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.

Don't skip imprinting - each successful imprint boosts the Pteranodon's stats, and hitting 100% grants a 30% combat bonus when the imprinter rides it. Imprint requests include cuddling, walks, and specific kibble - check the wiki for which kibble to stockpile.

The raising calculator above shows exactly how much food you need for each maturation phase of the Pteranodon. Budget ~222 minutes for the Baby phase - this is when hand-feeding or Maewing nursing is mandatory.

Raising multiple Pteranodon simultaneously? Set the dino count and the calculator scales food requirements automatically. Different food types have different spoil timers - factor that into which food you stockpile.

During the Baby phase (0-10%), you must hand-feed or use a Maewing to nurse. From Juvenile (10%+), dinos can eat from a Feeding Trough on their own. Use Preserving Salt in troughs to double spoil times.

The Pteranodon is a tamable, flying, carnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended. Classified under the Flyer group.

With 150 base Stamina, the Pteranodon has decent staying power. Melee starts at 100% - respectable melee power that scales with level-ups. At 210 base HP, the Pteranodon is relatively fragile. Weight capacity starts at 120, giving it average weight tolerance.

The Pteranodon is a knockout tame: apply enough torpor to knock it out, then place food in its inventory. Regular Kibble is the most effective food for taming, offering the highest affinity per feeding.

As a tame, the Pteranodon is commonly used for scouting and quick travel between locations. Breeding produces fertilized eggs that hatch within a 29°C–32°C temperature window. Defeating one in the wild grants 3 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.79 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
