The Poison Wyvern is a flying carnivore known for its ability to deliver powerful poison attacks from the air. It reduces the weight of inventory items when carried, making it efficient for resource transport during flight operations.
Players tame the Poison Wyvern primarily to exploit its long-range poison ability and aerial mobility in combat and node raids. It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Karkinos for fast deployment.
Poison Wyverns spawn commonly in swamp and cave biomes. They appear across 9 ARK maps, with higher concentrations typically found in green zones on the spawn map.

Tame a Poison Wyvern by stealing and hatching its egg. Use Kibble (Argentavis Egg) for the fastest taming. Raw Prime Meat also works if kibble is unavailable.
Immobilize the hatching wyvern with a Chain Bola, Bear Trap, Large Bear Trap, or Plant Species Y. The process takes about 20 minutes with optimal food. Use the calculator below for your settings.
Poison Wyvern is tamable by stealing an Egg.
Killing a Poison Wyvern yields Poison Talon, Hide, Raw Prime Meat, and Sulfur. The Hatchet yields the most Hide, while the Pick maximizes Raw Prime Meat and Sulfur.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While ridden, the Poison Wyvern gathers resources using its Taunt ability. This attack harvests berries, fiber, mushrooms, rare flowers, sap, seeds, and wood, with a 10× multiplier on Mejoberry, Narcoberry, Stimberry, and many seed types. Other attacks like Bite and Grab do not gather resources.
The Poison Wyvern has a +400% weakness to spike walls, making them extremely effective in base defense. It is highly resistant to mining drill damage and gas-based attacks, taking -100% damage from both. Level Health and Melee Damage to maximize survivability in combat.
