Paraceratherium
To tame the Paraceratherium, you need to knock it unconscious first. Tranq Arrows, Tranq Darts, and Shocking Tranq Darts all work. Once unconscious, Torpor drains at 0.9/s, so keep Narcotics or Bio Toxin ready.
| Food | Food Quantity (Current/Max) | Taming Time | Effectiveness |
|---|---|---|---|
Superior Kibble | 22:19 | 74 Lvl (224) 99.95% | |
Archelon Algae | 25:35 | 74 Lvl (224) 99.68% | |
Crops | 1:40:35 | 71 Lvl (221) 95.25% | |
Mejoberry | 1:40:44 | 68 Lvl (218) 91.84% | |
Berries | 1:40:35 | 62 Lvl (212) 83.35% |
The results below show total taming time, effectiveness, and bonus levels for the Paraceratherium at your selected level and food. Higher-quality foods yield more bonus levels.
Below are the narcotic requirements for keeping the Paraceratherium sedated throughout taming. Narcotics provide 40 Torpor each and are the standard choice. Bio Toxin offers 80 Torpor but is harder to farm. Narcoberries at 7.5 each are a last resort. The Paraceratherium bleeds 0.9 Torpor/s, so keep a close eye on the bar and sedate early.
The real-time timers below help you monitor Torpor drain and Food depletion during the tame. The torpor timer alerts you when narcotics are needed. The starve timer tracks Food depletion for starve-taming, where you let the food bar drop before placing all food at once.
The table below shows how many hits from each torpor weapon are needed to knock out the Paraceratherium at different levels. Wait between shots for torpor to tick up. Firing too fast can kill the creature before it goes down.
To simplify the knockout, immobilize the Paraceratherium first with Chain Bola or Bear Trap. Alternatively, use a Tusoteuthis to airlift it into a pre-built trap.

The Paraceratherium, a tamable, herbivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended, is well-known across multiple maps. It belongs to the Soaker category.
At 1,026 base HP, the Paraceratherium is impressively tough. Dealing 100% base Melee Damage, the Paraceratherium brings respectable melee power to the table. With 300 base Stamina, the Paraceratherium has moderate endurance. Weight capacity starts at 850, giving it excellent carrying capacity.
You'll need to knock the Paraceratherium unconscious before taming it. Tranquilizers are the standard approach. Superior Kibble is the most effective food for taming, offering the highest affinity per feeding.
As a tame, the Paraceratherium pulls double duty as both a capable resource harvester and pack animal. Breeding is via live birth rather than eggs, simplifying the process. A wild Paraceratherium is worth 12 base experience when killed. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.66 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
