Misc
Noglin is a small carnivore with a unique taming mechanic centered around its passive possession ability. It can latch onto tamed creatures and take control of them, progressing taming each time it releases. This makes it a niche utility creature for players looking to exploit its special interaction. It can be airlifted by Argentavis or Karkinos for fast deployment.
It does not gather resources while ridden and has no breeding capability. Its primary use is experimental or situational control during taming attempts.
Noglin does not currently spawn on any ARK: Survival Ascended map, or spawn data is not yet available.
Noglin is tamed using a special passive method. Allow it to latch onto one of your tamed creatures to begin the taming process. Each time it detaches, taming progress is gained. Use high-health creatures like Voidwyrms to avoid damage during the process. The Noglin cannot be knocked out or trapped traditionally. Use the calculator below for your settings.
To tame a Noglin, allow it to latch onto your tamed creatures and take control of them. Use high-health creatures like Voidwyrms (which take no damage from the process). Each time the Noglin releases control, it gains taming progress. Repeat until fully tamed.
Killing a Noglin yields Hide and Raw Meat. The Hatchet yields the most Hide. The Pick maximizes Raw Meat harvest.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
Noglin has a strong weakness to Instant HurtDinos, taking +120% more damage from them. It is highly resistant to MiningDrill Harvest, taking -100% damage. Explosion Demolition is also very effective, dealing +50% more damage. Avoid using Mining Drills or Spike Walls against it.

Numbers reflect base melee at level 1, 100% TE, no imprint. The damage calculator lets you scale by melee %, server multipliers, and pick a specific structure for exact hit counts.
The Noglin gains taming progress only when it voluntarily releases control of a tamed creature.
Use a Voidwyrm as the host during taming to prevent any damage.
It cannot be bred or hatched from an egg, making each taming permanent.
It is immune to damage from the MiningDrill Harvest mechanic.
It can be carried by Quetzal for aerial transport and deployment.
This page details the Noglin's taming, stats, damage modifiers, and utility. Refer to the taming calculator for precise sedation times and the spawn map for location data. Breeding mechanics do not apply.
