Mammoth
To tame the Mammoth, you need to knock it unconscious first. Tranq Arrows, Tranq Darts, and Shocking Tranq Darts all work. The Mammoth loses Torpor at 0.1 per second while unconscious - stay on top of narcotics.
| Food | Food Quantity (Current/Max) | Taming Time | Effectiveness |
|---|---|---|---|
Superior Kibble | 48:21 | 74 Lvl (224) 99.8% | |
Archelon Algae | 56:17 | 74 Lvl (224) 98.76% | |
Crops | 3:43:27 | 62 Lvl (212) 83.36% | |
Mejoberry | 3:43:40 | 55 Lvl (205) 73.78% | |
Berries | 3:43:27 | 41 Lvl (191) 55.59% |
Check the taming results to see how long it takes to tame the Mammoth, what effectiveness you'll achieve, and how many bonus levels it gains. Better food means better results.
The table shows how many sedatives you'll need to keep the Mammoth unconscious through the full taming duration. Bio Toxin is twice as potent as Narcotics (80 vs 40 Torpor per use), while Narcoberries work in a pinch at just 7.5 Torpor each. At 0.1 Torpor drain per second, apply narcotics proactively - a wakeup mid-tame wastes everything.
The real-time timers below help you monitor Torpor drain and Food depletion during the tame. The torpor timer alerts you when narcotics are needed. The starve timer tracks Food depletion for starve-taming, where you let the food bar drop before placing all food at once.
The Mammoth, a tamable, herbivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended, is a notable presence across multiple maps. It belongs to the Support category.
Dealing 100% base Melee Damage, the Mammoth brings solid damage output to the table. At 1,020 base HP, the Mammoth is solidly tanky. With 330 base Stamina, the Mammoth has moderate endurance. It carries 500 base Weight - an enormous weight pool.
You'll need to knock the Mammoth unconscious before taming it. Tranquilizers are the standard approach. Feed it Superior Kibble for the fastest tame and highest effectiveness bonus.
After taming, the Mammoth is primarily used for resource harvesting, excelling at gathering specific materials. Breeding is via live birth rather than eggs, simplifying the process. Defeating one in the wild grants 8 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.62 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.

Estimated time until optimal feeding point: 48m 21s
Food to consume through starvation: 2302
Target food level: 15198
The table below shows how many hits from each torpor weapon are needed to knock out the Mammoth at different levels. Always pace your shots. Torpor takes time to apply, and over-shooting can be lethal.
To simplify the knockout, immobilize the Mammoth first with Chain Bola or Bear Trap. Alternatively, use a Tusoteuthis to airlift it into a pre-built trap.
