The Liopleurodon is a large aquatic carnivore found in the dark zones of underwater environments. It is tamed passively by offering food, making it a safe alternative to knockout taming for dangerous creatures. This dino excels at damaging wooden and thatch structures, making it useful for base raids in vulnerable early-game settlements.
It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Karkinos for fast deployment.
Liopleurodons spawn commonly in dark zones, such as deep underwater caves and trenches. They appear across 10 ARK maps, with the highest spawn density in the darkest regions. Use the spawn map to locate the green zones for optimal searching.

Liopleurodons are tamed passively by feeding them while nearby. The best food is Giant Bee Honey, which provides the fastest taming effectiveness. No alternative foods offer significant affinity gain.
The process takes about 15 minutes and requires no narcotics. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing a Liopleurodon yields Megalodon Tooth, Raw Fish Meat, and Raw Prime Fish Meat. The Dino (Fish Harvest) tool yields the most Raw Fish Meat, while the Sickle provides the highest quantity of Raw Prime Fish Meat.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
Liopleurodons are highly vulnerable to spike walls, which deal +200% damage. They also take +120% more damage from Instant HurtDinos, such as explosive traps. Conversely, they are completely resistant to Mining Drill Harvest and melee attacks from small carnivore dinos that deal electrocute damage. Melee attacks with impact effects are 50% less effective, as are small turret projectiles from defense plants.
