The Hyaenodon is a small carnivore with a passive taming method. It features the carryable tag, allowing it to be picked up by larger flying creatures for rapid transport. This makes it a convenient and mobile companion for scouting or quick attacks without the need for traditional taming setups.
It can be carried by Argentavis, Desmodus, Griffin, Karkinos, Megalosaurus, Kaprosuchus, Procoptodon, Pteranodon, Quetzal, or Tusoteuthis for fast deployment across long distances.
Hyaenodon spawns in city, desert, mountain, and snow biomes. It is commonly found across 21 ARK maps, making it widely accessible. Players often locate it in open highland zones or near rocky outcrops on The Island and other maps.

Hyaenodon is tamed passively, meaning it does not need to be knocked out. Feed it Kibble (Carno Egg) for the fastest taming. Raw Mutton also works, though it is less efficient.
The process takes about 34 minutes at level 150 using the best food. No narcotics are needed. Use a Bola or trap it in a Bear Trap to prevent escape during taming.

Killing a Hyaenodon yields Hide, Raw Meat, Raw Prime Meat, and Keratin. The Hatchet harvests the most Hide and Keratin, while the Pick yields more Raw Meat and Raw Prime Meat.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
Hyaenodon has a +120% weakness to Instant HurtDinos, making it highly vulnerable to certain dino attacks. It also takes +100% damage from spike walls, which are very effective in defense. Conversely, it is fully immune to Mining Drill harvest damage. Level Health and Melee Damage to maximize effectiveness.
