Overview

Gigantopithecus is a massive herbivore known for its ability to gather vast quantities of plant-based resources. It reduces the weight of inventory items while being carried by larger creatures. This makes it ideal for efficient resource farming and transport logistics. It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Karkinos for fast deployment.

Players often tame Gigantopithecus to serve as a mobile harvesting platform. Its high damage output on certain resource nodes allows for rapid collection. The combination of weight reduction and aerial mobility enhances its role in large-scale farming operations.

Taming a Gigantopithecus is done passively by feeding it. The best food is Regular Kibble, which provides the fastest taming effectiveness. Mejoberry can also be used if kibble is unavailable. It takes about 2 minutes to tame at level 224 with 9 units of Regular Kibble. No narcotics are needed during the process. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.

Gathering Abilities

While ridden, Gigantopithecus excels at harvesting berries, fiber, mushrooms, polymer, rare flowers, sap, seeds, thatch, and wood. Its Punch, Throw, and JumpPunch attacks gather resources at up to 10× efficiency. Notable high-multiplier resources include Mejoberry, Narcoberry, Stimberry, Rare Flower, and Wood. These make it a premier choice for fast berry and plant node farming.

Damage Resistances

Gigantopithecus takes +400% more damage from spike walls, making them extremely effective in defensive setups. It is also weak to Instant HurtDinos and Explosion Demolition. It has a -60% resistance to fire damage, so fire-based weapons are less effective. Melee attacks with metal weapons deal +55% damage. Level Health and Melee Damage.
