Overview

The Dung Beetle is a small, coprophagic creature tamed passively by feeding it feces. It specializes in reducing the weight of inventory resources, making it a valuable farming utility pet. It can be airlifted by Argentavis or Karkinos for fast deployment.

Players tame it primarily to reduce the weight of harvested resources during large-scale farming operations.

The Dung Beetle spawns commonly across 22 ARK maps. It appears in diverse biomes including caves, cities, deserts, snow, and wastelands. Green zones on the spawn map indicate the highest density areas.

Taming a Dung Beetle is done passively by feeding it. The best food is Large Animal Feces, which grants the fastest taming. Medium Animal Feces also works well if unavailable.

No immobilization or knockout is required. The process takes about 2 minutes with Large Animal Feces at level 221. Use the calculator below for your settings.
