Dreadnoughtus Taming Calculator

Scope out an Element vein first, ideally an alpha one, because the vein you take it to fixes your effectiveness the moment it arrives. Approach on something small like a Thylacoleo rather than a heavy mount. Feed it Element from your hotbar and it follows you for a minute, so lead it to the vein in hops. Once it is feeding there, every point of progress comes from killing the waves that spawn, not from the Element, which is only the lure.

The vein you lead it to fixes your ceiling the moment it arrives. Only an alpha vein allows 100%, and no amount of care recovers a lower one.

  • A fresh wave arrives every 10s while kills are still owed, and progress holds for 30s after each wave is cleared before the next one starts.
  • Lead it to an Element vein with Element in your last slot, then kill what the vein throws at you. The Element is only the lure; every point of progress comes from the horde.
  • Let it fall below 10% health and the attempt is deleted outright. Straying more than about 250m does the same.
  • It is shielded for 20 seconds after each feed at the vein. Damage taken outside that window costs effectiveness.
  • Progress is released one wave at a time, so killing faster than the waves arrive wastes the surplus. A higher taming rate fills each wave sooner but does not reduce how many you have to survive.

Starve & Torpor Timers

The Dreadnoughtus, a tamable, herbivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended, is well-known across multiple maps. Classified under the Soaker group.

The Dreadnoughtus has 100,000 base Health - one of the toughest creatures in the game. With 100% base Melee Damage, the Dreadnoughtus has respectable melee power. Stamina sits at 300 base, providing average stamina. Weight capacity starts at 3000, giving it massive inventory space.

As a tame, the Dreadnoughtus combines solid harvesting capability with generous carrying capacity. It reproduces by laying eggs, which must be incubated between 40°C and 42°C. Killing a wild Dreadnoughtus yields 22 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.99 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
