The Dodo is a small herbivore commonly tamed for its utility in gathering plant-based resources. It reduces the weight of harvested items when carried in inventory. This makes it useful for early-game resource farming before stronger pack animals are available. It can be airlifted by Argentavis, Desmodus, Griffin, Karkinos, Megalosaurus, Tropeognathus, Kaprosuchus, Procoptodon, Pteranodon, Quetzal, Tapejara, or Tusoteuthis for fast deployment.
Dodos are often used to farm berries and seeds efficiently while minimizing inventory load.
The Dodo spawns on 21 ARK maps, including beaches, forests, jungles, oases, snow biomes, wastelands, and cities. It is very common across these environments. Look for them in open green zones where spawn density is highest.

Tame the Dodo using the knockout method. Use a Bola or trap it in a Bear Trap to immobilize it. Then sedate it with Tranq Arrows from a Bow, Tranquilizer Darts from a Crossbow, or a Wooden Club. The best food is Basic Kibble. Mejoberry also works if kibble is unavailable. The process takes about 2 minutes. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing a Dodo yields Hide and Raw Meat. The Hatchet yields the most Hide. The Pick maximizes Raw Meat harvest.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While ridden, the Dodo gathers from multiple categories including berries, fiber, mushrooms, rare flowers, sap, seeds, and wood. Its melee attack harvests 10× Berries, Mejoberry, Narcoberry, Rare Flower, Rare Mushroom, Stimberry, Wood, Mejoberry Seed, Narcoberry Seed, Stimberry Seed, Plant Species X Seed, and Plant Species Y Seed. It also gathers 8× Cactus Sap and Fiber. This makes it highly efficient for seed and berry farming.
The Dodo has a +120% weakness to Instant HurtDinos damage. It also takes +55% more damage from Melee DmgMetal RaidDino attacks. It resists SpikeWall damage by -50%. Avoid direct combat. Level Health and Melee Damage.
