Instead of laying eggs, the Desmodus carries its young through a gestation period. Gestation takes approximately 8 hours at default rates.

The baby Desmodus takes approximately 2 days and 23 hours to fully mature at default rates - over a lengthy period. During the baby phase (0–10%), hand-feed it directly. From 10% onward (juvenile), it can eat from a Feeding Trough.

Mutations can add +2 levels to any stat and change colors. Stacking mutations across generations is the key to min-maxed breeding lines. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.

The Desmodus's growth progresses through three stages: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~427 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~28h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~36h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.

Imprint bonuses are significant: a fully imprinted Desmodus gains 30% extra damage and damage resistance with its imprinter mounted. Imprint requests include cuddling, walks, and specific kibble - check the wiki for which kibble to stockpile.

During the Baby phase (0-10%), you must hand-feed or use a Maewing to nurse. From Juvenile (10%+), dinos can eat from a Feeding Trough on their own. Use Preserving Salt in troughs to double spoil times.

The Desmodus is a tamable, flying, carnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended. It falls within the Flyer classification.

Melee starts at 100% - respectable melee power that scales with level-ups. At 325 base HP, the Desmodus is reasonably durable. Its base Stamina of 500 gives it solid stamina reserves. It carries 350 base Weight - generous inventory space.

The Desmodus is passively tamed - approach it carefully and feed it by hand without knocking it out. Its preferred food is Blood Pack.

Once tamed, the Desmodus works well as a reconnaissance mount, offering fast travel and a bird's-eye view of the terrain. It gives live birth after a gestation period, making breeding straightforward. A wild Desmodus is worth 3 base experience when killed. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.67 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
