The Ammonite is a small aquatic herbivore that dwells in dark, deep ocean environments. It can be carried by large flying creatures such as Quetzal or Karkinos for rapid transport across vast underwater distances. This makes it useful for deep-sea exploration and resource collection in inaccessible zones.
Ammonite spawns in cave systems, dark zones, and deep ocean biomes. It is considered uncommon and appears across 17 ARK maps. Players often find higher concentrations in submerged cave networks below the ocean floor.

Ammonite cannot be tamed.
Ammonite is not tamable.
Killing an Ammonite yields Chitin, Silica Pearls, Oil, Black Pearl, Raw Meat, and Ammonite Bile. The Pick provides the highest yield of Raw Meat, while other resources are best harvested with standard tools.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
Ammonite takes +600% more damage from melee attacks that apply Torpor or Poison, such as Chitin Paste. It is also highly vulnerable to instant damage effects and explosions. Conversely, it is highly resistant to spike walls and ranged turret fire, making those defenses ineffective.

The head of the Ammonite takes full damage, while the body takes only 20% of incoming damage. Focus attacks on the head for efficient takedowns.
Ammonite is highly vulnerable to torpor-based attacks, taking massively increased damage from sources like Chitin Paste.
It suffers greatly from explosion damage, making it weak against artillery and demolition charges.
Spike walls are ineffective due to a 50% damage reduction, so avoid using them for defense.
It resists melee attacks with projectile impact effects, reducing damage by 50% from such sources.
