Acrocanthosaurus Taming Calculator

The Acrocanthosaurus is immune to ranged tranquilizers and must be rendered unconscious by hand-feeding it Narcoberries, Narcotic, or Bio Toxin during its frustrated roar. Place the narcotic in the last hotbar slot, approach the open mouth, aim for the upper jaw, and press the interact key to feed it. Using a Fabricated Sniper Rifle to trigger the shield stance and track adrenaline phases is recommended. A Pump-Action Shotgun also works well, as excess damage is ignored and does not affect taming effectiveness until the unconscious animation plays (especially viable for higher-level Acrocanthosaurus). As a last resort, trapping one and using a melee-leveled Ice Wyvern is possible, though risky. Avoid Fire, Crystal, Poison, and Lightning Wyverns due to lingering damage effects that reduce taming effectiveness.

To tame the Acrocanthosaurus, you need to knock it unconscious first. Tranq Arrows, Tranq Darts, and Shocking Tranq Darts all work. The Acrocanthosaurus loses Torpor at 1.05 per second while unconscious - stay on top of narcotics.

Required Narcotics

Use the narcotic calculator to determine exactly how many Narcotics, Bio Toxin, or Narcoberries you need for the Acrocanthosaurus. Your options are Narcotics (40 Torpor), Bio Toxin (80 Torpor, best efficiency), or Narcoberries (7.5 Torpor, cheapest but slowest). With Torpor draining at 1.05/s, don't wait until the bar is nearly empty to apply narcotics.

Starve & Torpor Timers

The real-time timers below help you monitor Torpor drain and Food depletion during the tame. Starve taming is recommended for valuable high-level Acrocanthosaurus: let the Food stat deplete first, then add food. This way nothing is wasted if something goes wrong.

Found throughout the ARKs, the Acrocanthosaurus is a tamable, carnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended. It belongs to the DMG category.

Its base Stamina of 400 gives it solid stamina reserves. With 100% base Melee Damage, the Acrocanthosaurus has decent hitting power. With 1,300 base Health, the Acrocanthosaurus is among the tougher creatures. A base Weight of 600 means excellent carrying capacity.

You'll need to knock the Acrocanthosaurus unconscious before taming it. Tranquilizers are the standard approach. For best results, use Exceptional Kibble - it gives the highest taming efficiency.

Once tamed, the Acrocanthosaurus combines solid harvesting capability with generous carrying capacity. It reproduces by laying eggs, which must be incubated between 43°C and 44°C. A wild Acrocanthosaurus is worth 35 base experience when killed. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.87 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
