The Aberrant Dire Bear is a large omnivore variant found in the Aberration biome. It gains a 6% increase to Melee Damage compared to the standard Dire Bear, making it a stronger close-combat fighter. This dino is primarily used for harvesting plant-based resources efficiently. It can be airlifted by Quetzal or Tusoteuthis for fast deployment.
Players often tame it for its high gather multipliers on berries, fiber, and seeds while benefiting from its increased melee power in combat.
The Aberrant Dire Bear spawns in cave systems and fertile zones across 13 ARK maps. It is very rare, so sightings are infrequent. Focus searches in the Aberration map's illuminated underground regions for the best chance to locate one.

Tame the Aberrant Dire Bear using the knockout method. Use a Chain Bola, Bear Trap, or Large Bear Trap to immobilize it. Tranq Arrows from a Crossbow or Shocking Tranquilizer Darts from a Tek Bow work well for sedation. Feed it Giant Bee Honey for the fastest taming. Superior Kibble also works nearly as effectively. The process takes about 42 minutes and requires no Narcotics. Use the calculator below for your settings.

Killing an Aberrant Dire Bear yields Hide, Raw Meat, and Pelt. The Hatchet provides the most Hide and Pelt, while the Pick maximizes Raw Meat harvest.
Estimates based on game-extracted data (weights, quantities, harvest multipliers, damage type chains). Each harvest event independently rolls each resource - higher weight = higher drop chance. Actual yields vary with RNG.
While mounted, the Aberrant Dire Bear gathers from multiple plant categories including berries, fiber, mushrooms, organic polymer, rare flowers, seeds, and wood. Each attack harvests the same resources with a 10× multiplier on items like Citronal, Fiber, Mejoberry, Narcoberry, Organic Polymer, Plant Species X Seed, Plant Species Y Seed, Rare Flower, and Rockarrot. This makes it one of the most efficient plant gatherers in the game.
The Aberrant Dire Bear has a +120% weakness to damage from Instant HurtDinos, making it highly vulnerable to certain automated defenses. It also takes +100% more damage from spike walls. Conversely, it is fully immune to Mining Drill Harvest damage. It resists ranged turret and projectile-based attacks by 50%. Level Health and Melee Damage to maximize durability and output.

The head has a 1.5× damage multiplier, making headshots effective for faster knockouts. Focus attacks on the head when sedating to reduce taming time.
